“Sing to God, sing praises to His name;
Extol Him who rides on the clouds,
By His name Yah,
And rejoice before Him.
A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows,
Is God in His holy habitation.”
Psalm 68:4-5 (NKJV)
We’re almost at an end to my series on widowhood. But that doesn’t mean the memories or the grief go away. They linger and sometimes the grief rears its head in ugliness. The memories are sweet and salty as tears.
Oh, how He loves us. Isn’t that a beautiful promise from Psalm 68? He is our defender. A defender is a champion, protector, supporter, and sponsor. That’s a lot rolled up in that three-syllable word.
- He champions our cause as ones who have lost our beloved spouses.
- He protects us from our enemies, both on earth and from the spiritual ones who seek to steal our joy.
- He supports us as we lean in to Him. There is not a stronger tower of support than the Lord Almighty.
- He sponsors us as we figure out what life looks like on our own.
God is the Omniscient One. He knows everything about us and cares about every detail! Psalm 139 is a great one to meditate on when thinking about how He knows all about us.
My prayer this day is that you embrace the Omniscient One. Cry out to Him and lean in. His arms are waiting and His care is the best.
Until next time, when we will talk about our Deliverer (Woo hoo!),
